The Dance Institute

Introduction

The Dance Institute summer intensive was founded in 2009 by Dublin native Lindsay Ashe-Browne. For 11 years the course has provided Irish and international students with masterclasses and workshops in all forms of dance styles, as well as supplementary training in Pilates, Yoga and body conditioning.

The Dance Institute prides itself on providing one of the most versatile, high profile faculties in Ireland. Our teachers have included principal dancers and performers from The Royal Ballet of Flanders, The Berlin State Opera Ballet, The National Ballet of Ireland, English National Ballet, Matthew Bournes New Adventures, London’s West End and many more.
Our course traditionally takes place in the beautiful studios of Dance House on Foley Street, but due to exceptional circumstances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have opted to take our course online this year. Please visit the link below to find out more about TDI 2020

Who We Are

Lindsay Ashe-Browne is a dance teacher and director based in Dublin.
Founding The Dance Institute was the realisation of Lindsay's long-held ambition to return home to Ireland after training and working as a professional dancer. During her time away Lindsay learned how other countries approached dance training. With this in mind, The Dance Institute has developed and grown over the years to offer students an opportunity to try every style of dance - ballet, contemporary, jazz, commercial, tap, musical theatre and ballroom as well as our complimentary techniques such as yoga and pilates. These techniques help to keep dancers injury-free, promote evenly balanced muscles and teach how to warm up and cool down correctly.
Lindsay was recently appointed Artistic Director of the Irish National Youth Ballet Company.

Lindsay’s sister Zoe Ashe-Browne became co-director in 2016 having taught on the course since the very beginning. Zoe brings with her the knowledge and experience of being a current professional dancer and has helped to introduce world renowned teachers to TDI through her contacts and colleagues. This gives Irish students the opportunity to learn from international faculty members without having to travel abroad as well as learning from Irish teachers who have been down the same path the students are travelling, just a few years before. Zoe is currently dancing with the Royal Ballet of Flanders. See Zoe In Action
